What will my skin look and feel like after treatment?

Immediately after, you may experience:

  • Redness (similar to a sunburn)

  • Mild swelling or tightness

  • A warm or prickly sensation

  • Slight pinpoint bleeding or dryness

These effects are normal and usually settle within 24–72 hours depending on your skin type and depth of treatment.

Can I wear makeup straight after?

You can apply mineral makeup after 12–24 hours, but we recommend waiting if possible. Your skin needs time to heal and breathe. Always use clean brushes and avoid heavy or pore-clogging products.

When can I wash my face?

Wait at least 6–12 hours before cleansing your skin. When you do:

  • Use a gentle cleanser (no active ingredients)

  • Avoid scrubbing or rubbing

  • Pat dry with a clean towel

What products should I avoid after needling?

For the first 3 days, avoid:

  • Retinol

  • Acids (AHAs, BHAs, PHAs)

  • Vitamin C serums

  • Exfoliants or scrubs

  • Fragranced or active skincare

Stick to a simple, hydrating routine as advised by your therapist.

When can I go back to exercise, saunas, or swimming?

Avoid all heat, sweat, and chlorinated environments for 12–24 hours. This includes:

  • Gym workouts

  • Hot yoga

  • Saunas, steam rooms, spas

  • Swimming pools & beaches

These can all increase inflammation or risk of infection.

Can I exfoliate or do a peel afterwards?

Avoid exfoliating for at least 3 days. After that, you can use something gentle (like Dr Spiller’s Jojoba Peeling Cream) to help slough away dry or flaky skin if recommended by your therapist.

Should I wear SPF?

Yes — always. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun post-treatment. Use a broad-spectrum mineral SPF 30 or higher, reapplied every few hours if outdoors.

Can I do other treatments after?

Most treatments can be done 2 weeks after needling (including LED, peels, or facials). If you’re combining needling with RF or Cosmelan, we’ll provide specific timing and a tailored plan. Everybody's skin is different, this information is general in nature and we tailor each customers treatment plan to their specific needs.
